ecofi Earns Prestigious Designation as a Certified B Corporation

ecofi, the Miami-based conservation firm, joins a community of businesses leading the global movement for an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economy as a Certified B Corporation™. Building on their mission to prove conservation is good for business, this certification acknowledges ecofi’s commitment to uplift people, enhance communities and protect the environment.

B Lab™, the nonprofit network that is transforming the global economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet, certifies B Corporations. To earn the designation, ecofi underwent a rigorous third-party assessment, which measured the company’s impact in the following areas: governance, workers, community, environment and customers. As part of the evaluation, company founders must also make a legal commitment, changing their corporate governance structure to be accountable to all stakeholders, not simply shareholders.

“We’re extremely proud of this accomplishment as we’ve aspired to earn this designation and align with like-minded businesses committed to systemic change,” said Co-Founder and CEO Richard Lamondin. “Since day one, we’ve run our business with conviction to dovetail profit-generation with mission-driven purpose. The B Corporation certification validates this work, and we hope it inspires others to integrate purpose and profit for the good of all.”

ecofi was founded in 2012 to help combat the effects of climate change in Miami, Lamondin’s hometown. The company’s business model focuses on demonstrating the impact of environmental, social and governance (ESG) and conservation programs on the bottom line, with partnership at the forefront of their mission. Through this work, ecofi is enabling their partners in the multi-family housing industry to realize financial savings while conserving water and energy to reduce their carbon footprint.

Interest in environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors is growing steadily across many industries, including real estate. Investors and property owners have a greater need for sustainable solutions to reduce environmental impacts as demand for eco-friendly living increases. As a newly certified B Corporation, ecofi is helping other companies progress along a more sustainable path through the design and implementation of conservation programs, while also setting the standard for social and environmental performance.

To date, ecofi has saved their partners more than $58 million through the execution of water and energy conservation programs. Demand for eco-friendly communities is increasing, and with it, investors and property owners have a greater need for sustainable solutions to reduce environmental impacts.

Central to earning the B Corporation® certification, ecofi is also committed to the highest standards for social and environmental performance, creating water savings in excess of 6.4 billion gallons, reducing 176,000 metric tons of CO2, and conserving 252,000 Kwh of energy.

As a B Corporation®, ecofi joins a community of just 6,000 businesses worldwide, and only 37 in the state of Florida, that are leading a movement to transform the global economy to benefit all people, communities and the planet.
